Topic: Authors Acting as Reviewers  (Read 5383 times)

- We think that authors usually have an appropriate background for serving as a reviewer. Therefore we want to invite all of them to participate in the reviewing process.

- For our conference, every submitting author also has to review papers and to confirm that he / she will participate in the reviewing process.

Is there any option to ask submitting authors to become a peer reviewer, too?

Yes, you can activate an option which will show a confirmation on the submission form that the submitting author can or has to become a reviewer for the event.

To enable it, please go to:
Overview => Settings => Main Settings for the Review Process
Please first activate the expert settings by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on the "Expert Settings Disabled" or the cogwheel icon.
Then scroll to the section 'Authors Acting as Reviewers' (see image 1).

Here you can make the reviewing confirmation optional ("… every submitting author CAN confirm that she/he will review submissions") or mandatory ("Yes, every submitting author MUST confirm that she/he will review submissions").
Moreover, submitting authors can be asked for their areas of expertise. Depending on your settings (and whether the track-chair-module has been installed) authors can be asked to choose tracks or topics to specify their area of expertise (see image 1). Alternatively, you have the option to assign submitting authors automatically as reviewers to the same track(s) in which they have submitted proposals.

As soon as your settings have been saved, submitting authors will be asked to be a reviewer or informed that they have to participate in the reviewing process respectively when they submit their contribution (see image 2).

Please note that there is also the option to allow all users (also non-authors) to become reviewers.
