Gray / read-only input fields in configuration forms

Some of the fields in the configuration are grayed out and cannot be edited.
What does that mean?
Why can't we edit them anymore?

The gray color shows that these fields are "read-only" fields and cannot be edited.
The ConfTool System "locks" such fields if other database records relate to them and updating them would lead to potential inconsistencies.

Example:
Amounts on the page ...
Overview => Settings => Prices
... are set as grayed-out read-only fields, if events/items that relate to them have already been booked by participants (see image).
If you updated the prices, the registrations of the already registered participants would be modified, too.
