This roundtable underscores the contribution of the North American Cultural Diplomacy Initiative (NACDI) to the development of a critical perspective of cultural diplomacy. This critical discussion includes recognizing that culture is not neutral, understanding the power dynamics surrounding it, and acknowledging that diplomacy is not solely the domain of states. NACDI has spearheaded several activities to foster this dialogue, including Cultural Summits, publication of reports, academic panels, artistic performances, and debates among scholars and practitioners. Building on these efforts, NACDI is now contemplating the development of a Summer Institute to further enhance its mission and outreach.
